I’m Michael D. Pitman, an award-winning author and aspiring author.
My creative stories blend emotion and human nature. They are sad and sweet, tragic and triumphant. I am also an award-winning journalist, being a three-time finalist for the Ohio Associate Press Media Editors awards and the 2017 Salesian Guild Communicator of the Year.
I began my career in 1999 as a community and government reporter covering communities in Southwest Ohio. I’ve covered just about everything, from school board, township trustee and city council meetings to congressional and presidential campaigns. I’ve reported on county fairs and statehouse and nationwide issues.
In 2015, I was the runner-up in the Best News Writer (Division IV) category by the Ohio APME. I won the category (same division) in 2016. In 2017, I was the runner-up in Best Explanatory Writing (Division III) category by the Ohio APME.
I am also active in my church and daughters’ school, serving on the Education Commission, the Athletic Association. I’ve also coached my daughters’ sports teams.
